"The Sun, the Moon and the Wind" (2016) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
The Sun King, the Moon King, and the Wind King are beloved characters from a famous late 19th-century Czech fairy tale. Together, they embody the cosmic and natural forces that lie far beyond human control—forces that humanity must learn to respect and honor. The Sun (warmth and life), the Moon (the subconscious, intuition, and cold beauty), and the Wind (thoughts, breath, and spiritual flight) weave together into a perfect, harmonious whole. The artist captured them on a small island cradled within a celestial meadow, shimmering with eternal stardust.
