"The Luck Dragon" (2023) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). Featured in the Astrology series by Marie Brožová, this image represents the Northern Lunar Node in Libra.
The Story Behind the Art
High in the air against a blue sky, a Chinese dragon soars, frolicking among paper kites and autumn leaves. In Chinese tradition, the dragon is a powerful symbol of luck, vitality, and energy. Inspired by Falkor from The NeverEnding Story, Marie Brožová captures the spirit of the Luckdragon, who believed that nothing is impossible, and that luck is always on your side.
