"Spooky Kindergarten" (2019) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
It's September, and the Spooky Kindergarten is officially open! As the school bell tolls at Castle Doom-and-Gloom, local forest spooks are heading out with their little monsters. Spot the Water-Goblins, Pixies, Bush-Hooligans, and Will-o'-the-Wisps making their way up the hill. It's the ultimate school run—with a few extra guests you might not want to meet in the dark!

The sole cat in this scene is so light that a spruce twig could bear its weight—clearly, it's one of the forest spirits.
