"Shadowlands" (2003) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová. Created in her atelier, the original artwork is an A3 format piece, measuring 42 × 29.7 cm (16.5 × 11.7 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
Everyone has their own secret district, usually hidden within the mysterious alleys of their childhood. Marie Brožová grew up in the rugged, historic heart of Prague. While reading adventure stories about the "Shadowlands," she imagined them coming to life in the labyrinthine streets and interconnected cellars of her neighborhood. This art piece brought the artist an extraordinary stroke of luck! The original now resides in a private collection in Taiwan. It was sold on the very last day of her first public drawing event at Prague's Old Town Square in 2004 to an art collector who happened to be passing by. This miraculous encounter allowed her to fund the production of her very first high-quality art portfolios and prints.
Hidden Details to Discover
