"Moon over the River" (2005) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public in Písek (Czech Republic) as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
The Moon wanders through a rose garden of pearlescent clouds, pausing to catch the sweet fragrance of the blossoms, while statues from an ancient stone bridge transform into dancing fairies. Here, your soul can board a fisherman's boat, sail far beyond the horizon of everyday worries, and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep.
Hidden Details to Discover
In larger prints (A3 and up), look closely to discover 14 tiny flower fairy faces hidden among the roses in the sky. Even though it may seem unlikely at first glance, you will also find three hidden cats tucked into the scene.
