"Lilac Scheherazade" (2007) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová. Created in her atelier, the original artwork is an A3 format piece, measuring 42 × 29.7 cm (16.5 × 11.7 inches). This artwork is featured as an illustration in the artist's first book, The Soul of Trees.
The Story Behind the Art
Amidst blossoming lilacs in the glow of a full moon, the Lilac Scheherazade floats upon a flying carpet, reclining on ornate cushions beside her wise tortoise. Beneath her, a black-and-white cat gazes at a small sailboat floating in a well. "Carry me to my heart’s desire," echoes the spell that stirs the carpet into flight.
