"Giraffe Perspective" (2010) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public at the Liberec Zoo (Czech Republic) as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
This drawing offers a whimsical view into a female novelist's study window, where stories are born on an old typewriter. Bathed in sunlight, a curious giraffe peeks in to explore the room: violets and agates rest on the windowsill, a dachshund lounges on vibrant cushions, and the essential coffee, fountain pen, and reading glasses lie on a checkerboard-clothed desk. The entire scene is beautifully framed by an agate "landscape".
Hidden Details to Discover
You can find two cats in this drawing, though only in the form of pillows. The real challenge, however, is to spot the hidden orange and green pencils.
