"From the Life of Stars" (2006) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at the Prague Planetarium as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
In a beautifully whimsical, fairy-tale style, this artwork depicts the stages of stellar evolution. Marie Brožová brings the cosmos to life, guiding us on a journey from stellar newborns gently nestled in a glowing blanket of cosmic nebulae, all the way to wise, elderly white dwarfs nearing the end of their cosmic journey.

Keen astronomers and space enthusiasts will instantly recognize that the composition subtly mirrors the famous Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram, which charts the evolutionary relationship between a star's absolute luminosity and its temperature.
