"Against the Flow of Time" is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová. Created in her atelier, the original artwork is an A3-format piece measuring 42 × 29.7 cm (16.5 × 11.7 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
On the waves of a river hidden deep within the woods, a red-haired girl with cherries for earrings sails upstream against the flow of time. Children play hopscotch on giant boulders while the green hair of rusalkas drifts in the current. Steps leading from the bank climb toward a candlelit chapel, rising from the forest of memories toward the light.
Hidden Details to Discover
The boat bears the name "Memory" on its side – a reminder that memory is the finest time machine when we long to return to our past.
