"December Fairy" (2011) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). This piece is featured in the Fairies for Each Month of the Year series.
The Story Behind the Art
The December Fairy jingles her bells, rustles through pine needles, and frosts the city streets with silver rime and golden mistletoe. She brings the magic of Christmas seen through a child's eyes, at any stage of life.
Hidden Details to Discover
The painting captures the fairy-tale town of Český Krumlov, just as it lived in the artist’s memories from 2002, when Marie Brožová opened her first gallery on the Castle stairs above Latrán.
