The Story Behind the Art

This powerful artwork brings to life the ancient Celtic god Cernunnos, revered as the Lord of the Wildwood, guardian of the underworld, and a potent deity of fertility and nature. His name translates to "The Antlered One." In traditional Celtic lore, he is often depicted alongside a horned serpent, a sacred symbol of the earth's deepest, primal energies.

While later traditions adapted his striking imagery to depict the devil—transforming the rich concept of the underworld into a fearful realm of hell—the Celts held a much more balanced view. They did not categorize natural forces as strictly good or evil, but simply as raw power. Like a potent substance that acts as a healing medicine in small doses and a poison in larger ones, the essence remains the same—it is all about how we channel it.
