"Forgotten Angel of Christmas" (2009) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in her famous Magical Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
On a city beach by the sea, surrounded by a flock of gulls, an angel has fallen from the celestial heights, the feathers on his wings ruffled. He wears a tiara of Christmas mistletoe, yet in the modern city behind him, no one remembers Christmas. From gray and white clouds, snowflakes descend upon the world.
Hidden Details to Discover
Among the white feathers of the angel's wings, one single feather stands out in stark black.
