"Mother Nature" (2021) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 x 84.1 cm (46.8 x 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
This artwork portrays a silent dialogue between nature and affection. Rooted at the edge of the woods, a majestic oak receives the gentle embrace of a deer, channeling the very spirit of Mother Nature. The fierce, unyielding power of the warrior tree softens beneath a veil of blossoms, celebrating a quiet, feminine grace. It took the artist over a year to complete this piece, as public events were frequently cancelled during 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic-related restrictions. This might be the reason why this most time-consuming drawing of all holds a unique, quiet power of endurance.
