Goddess of Abundance (postcard)

"Goddess of Abundance" (2013) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public in Znojmo (Czech Republic) as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). This piece is featured in the Souls of Czech Rivers series, inspired by the Dyje (Thaya) River.

The Story Behind the Art

The Goddess of Abundance brings us the joy of life, a sense of contentment, and the art of savoring the present moment. This artwork captures the laid-back atmosphere of the Thaya River, where time stands still and the sun pours from the sky like honey from a honeycomb. It features the iconic Znojmo pickles, the Romanesque St. Catherine's Rotunda, the charm of omnipresent wine cellars, as well as the rare flora and fauna of the heathlands and river meanders – including grayling butterflies, nine-spotted moths, green lizards, and salamanders.

Hidden Details to Discover

The European green lizard (Lacerta viridis) has become the emblem of the Znovín Znojmo winery, located right next to the Podyjí (Thaya) National Park, where you can encounter this very curious endangered species at every turn.
