Cloud Race (postcard)

"Cloud Race" (2010) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). 

The Story Behind the Art

High above, the autumn wind drives the clouds across the sky like a wild herd of galloping horses – a scene so vivid and kinetic you can almost feel the Earth spinning beneath your feet, reminding you of its ancient, rolling nature. Moving across this landscape, a black cat and a white horse stand as two timeless symbols pulled directly from the fabric of our collective dreams. While Freudians and shamans might interpret these figures through vastly different lenses, no external guide can resolve the meeting of these powerful archetypes for us. That sacred convergence belongs entirely to the field of our own soul.
