Cinderella (postcard)

"Cinderella" (2015) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). 

The Story Behind the Art

Cinderella is a gentle, compassionate soul who has transformed her humble attic room into a warm sanctuary, welcoming woodland animals to shelter them from the bitter winter cold. While she treasures a few precious, rare keepsakes left behind by her late mother, she otherwise makes do with the broken trinkets discarded by the rest of the household. She is captured here in a breathtaking moment of pure wonder, marveling at the magic unfolding before her eyes: a magnificent ballgown emerging from a single, enchanted hazelnut.
