"Angel of Secret Wishes" (2012) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). This drawing is featured in the Angels for Each Month of the Year series.
The Story Behind the Art
The Angel of Secret Wishes fills the sails of our dream ship as it glides on a spring breeze through a birch grove. While some dreams are easily shared, everyone carries secret longings deep within their heart. This angel is here to help those very wishes come true.
Hidden Details to Discover
The number 11 and the letter M on the vessel are references to the famous astrophysical M-theory, which suggests our universe consists of 11 dimensions – ten spatial and one temporal. The letter M also stands for Mystery and Magic. In these dimensions, Marie Brožová envisions parallel worlds where our innermost dreams have already become reality.
