"Watersprite's Home" (2005) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public in Třeboň (Czech Republic) as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).

Think your bedtime routine is tough? Try being Mrs. Watersprite! While she desperately tries to tuck her sleepless, wiggly kids into bed, the entire underwater household is staging a full-blown rebellion. Mischievous little fish are peeking into her dinner pot and playfully untying her apron strings. Her only ally in this chaos? A helpful crayfish assisting with the laundry, perched right above a shelf loaded with traditional porcelain mugs of trapped souls. Meanwhile, Mr. Watersprite has successfully escaped the domestic drama. He is lounging comfortably up on a weeping willow branch, contentedly sipping green beer under the moonlight and blowing bubbles into the velvety green sky. It is a delightfully whimsical piece for anyone who knows that parenting can be a circus—even beneath the surface!

Look closely: inside one of those bubbles, the Full Moon smiles down on a peaceful, sleeping South Bohemian landscape.
