"Vision of freedom" (2009) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
On a crisp autumn day, a gray wolf runs down a sunken country lane among fields, trailing a paper kite behind him. While on display at the Magic Pencil Gallery, this drawing caught the eye of a ten-year-old girl who desperately wanted to buy a print. When her mother asked what fascinated her so much about this particular piece, the girl replied: "I don't know, Mom, it's just... the FREEDOM." She had no idea that the artwork was actually titled Vision of Freedom.
