"The Sleeping Beauty" (2016) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
Sleeping Beauty slumbers through her century-long rest. Even in her dreams, her hair continues to grow, weaving itself into the surrounding grass, moss, ivy, wild roses, and ferns. The forest has come to visit the castle, bringing along woodland animals, fairies, and goblins. This enchanting artwork is frequently chosen by parents for their little princesses' bedrooms to ensure peaceful, sweet dreams.
