"The Little Artist" (2016) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
The little artist climbs onto the roof with her storybook, a bucket of pencils, and her cat, enjoying the spectacular view. Looking through the kaleidoscope, she can see over the treetops all the way to the Sun Castle. The future is wide open. It is high noon; butterflies bask on the terracotta roof tiles, and the Sun appears in the sky with the face of a man at the peak of his strength, his golden hair still thick and full.
