"Spring Dance of the Fairies" (2008) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
Fairies and sprites dance in a joyous circle around two festively decorated trees, celebrating the long-awaited arrival of spring. Anemones bloom on green islets amidst the fallen leaves, while the ancient spirit of the sacred grove gazes softly at you from the swirling mist. All around the edges of this magical clearing, the curious, delicate hands of nature beings reach out from the shadows, their upturned palms bathed in the warm, golden glow of the spring sun.
Hidden Details to Discover
You can find the only cat on the left side, within the circle of dancing fairies. Cats obviously belong to the fairy realm.
