"Kutná Hora - a town where you can spot an angel" (2006) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public in Kutná Hora (Czech Republic) as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
In the historic town of Kutná Hora, an angel adorned with colorful ribbons glides toward the Jesuit College, accompanied by flying, angelic cats. The blue sky, dotted with clouds, reflects beautifully in the puddles on the street. A young girl waves her arms, yearning to defy gravity and join the angels in the air.
Hidden Details to Discover
The orange cat captured in this piece was a real-life witness to the wedding of the artist and her husband, Martin, which took place in 2000 at the Italian Court in Kutná Hora.
