"Knight and the Dragon" (2016) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her famous Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
A knight arrives to rescue a princess threatened by a nine-headed dragon. The night is thick with magic, and even gemstones have begun to bloom. The fairies and sprites have already drawn the curtains of their secret dwellings. The forest sleeps, and only the dragon's cave glows with the warmth of smoldering embers.
