"Heart of the Tree" (2004) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová. She created this piece at the beginning of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
The beech leaves have turned to autumn hues, spreading a copper carpet beneath the ancient trunks. On the path to the green sanctuary at the heart of the tree, Wizard November walks alongside a forest fairy in a green dress. The beech trees have eyes, observing everything around them with a watchful gaze.
