"Fabian - Lord of the Mountains" (2017) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
The Story Behind the Art
In the company of a golden dragon, Fabian, the Spirit of the Brdy Mountains, has ascended to the peak of Plešivec Hill, where legend says his secret garden lies. Centaur-shaped clouds adorn the autumn sky, while the ferns begin to turn their characteristic rusty hues.

Usually depicted in hunter’s attire or robes made of pine cones, Fabian is a guardian of the woods: he leaves respectful hikers in peace but leads mischievous ones astray, spooking them with eerie sounds.
