Dreams of Trees (posters)

"Dreams of Trees" (2008) is a colored pencil drawing by Prague artist Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). 

The Story Behind the Art

Do trees dream of one day becoming a beautifully bound book, a comforting rocking chair, or perhaps a majestic ship sailing on the open sea – an ocean their deeply anchored roots would otherwise never allow them to reach? This evocative piece captures the very souls of trees within a shimmering dreamscape of shifting seasons. It depicts their mystical journey up the hillside to board ethereal vessels woven from leaves. Destined for a journey much like Tolkien’s Elves, they are ready to set sail across the vast, western sky-ocean, leaving the earthly world behind to enter the realm of eternity.
