"Annual Ring of the Tree of Life" (2004) is the first monumental colored pencil drawing created live in public by Marie Brožová. The event took place in Prague's Old Town Square at the beginning of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils, proving the grand, oil-painting-like depth that can be achieved with this humble medium. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches).
