Angel of Healing (poster)

"Angel of Healing" (2011) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public in Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). This drawing is featured in the Angels for Each Month of the Year series.

The Story Behind the Art

The Angel of Healing has arrived to comfort a little girl struggling with a cold as she sleeps in her cozy room. Outside her window, the faces of snow-covered trees watch over her. The Angel carries remedies for all aches of body and soul – a loving medicine of compassion and care, bringing peace to your heart when you feel alone in your suffering or when illness becomes your only way to ask for love. The body is the temple of the soul; without it, the soul can achieve nothing.

Hidden Details to Discover

The Angel's earring features the Rod of Asclepius with a serpent, an ancient symbol of medicine.
