Amethyst Unicorn (poster)

"Amethyst Unicorn" (2010) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The original artwork is an impressive A0 format, measuring 118.9 × 84.1 cm (46.8 × 33.1 inches). This image is featured as an illustration in the artist's second book, The Soul of Stones.

The Story Behind the Art

In the heart of late autumn, a fairy harpist mounted on a unicorn descends a winding path toward an amethyst cave. Within lies the wellspring of inspiration, a sanctuary where the golden butterflies of our dreaming souls gather. At the bottom of the well, one might find a gateway to other worlds. Amethyst is known for its healing powers, helping us honor our inner truth – even when faced with ridicule – and maintain self-respect through every trial.

Hidden Details to Discover

November is a month of mystery. The veil is thinning. Amidst the falling leaves, look closely to discover a crystal seahorse, pinecone cuckoos, or a crocodile formed from roots. And above all, an endless array of hidden faces of nature spirits.
