"The Sun in Leo" (2015) is a colored pencil drawing by Marie Brožová, created live in public at her Magic Pencil Gallery in the heart of Prague as part of her long-term project The Defense of Colored Pencils. The Story Behind the Art
The Sun King and his faithful lion, who holds the entire globe in check under his paw—for them, nothing is impossible, and the world lies at their feet. Leos are always in the spotlight; their triumphs are as public as their defeats. They marvel at the beauty and possibilities of life, eagerly embracing every opportunity. Trusting in themselves, they give their all and expect the same from others. They sometimes confuse the fates of men with chess pawns, but what would a king be without his servants? Who would lay the foundations for his castles in the air, and for whom would he perform if he were alone in the world?
