The Record-Breaker

As part of her project The Defense of Colored Pencils, Marie also created record-breakingly large artworks. These feats were officially documented and certified by the Czech National Record Agency, the official authority behind the Czech Book of Records.

Her first record-breaking drawing, St. George Slaying the Dragon of Winter, was created in July 2005 at the historic Konopiště Château. It measured a massive 4 x 5.5 feet (1189 x 1682 mm).

An even larger masterpiece, Pelhřimov – The City of Records, was drawn in June 2007 directly in the town square of Pelhřimov during its annual festival. Measuring an incredible 4.1 x 6 feet (1250 x 1850 mm), this drawing even caught the attention of the Guinness World Records in London. Today, it is proudly displayed as part of the "Golden Czech Hands" exhibition at the national Museum of Records.

In 2010, Marie initiated a truly unique record in Pelhřimov: the creation of the largest collective artwork. She transformed her City of Records drawing into a giant coloring page, allowing every festival visitor the chance to color in a piece and become part of the record-breaking creation.
